Zamba para Olvidarte - Letra: Julio Fontana / Música: Daniel Toro (1976)

No sé para qué volviste
Si ya empezaba a olvidar
No sé si ya lo sabrás
Lloré cuando vos te fuiste
No sé para qué volviste
Qué mal me hace recordar

La tarde se ha puesto triste
Y yo prefiero callar
¿Para qué vamos a hablar
De cosas que ya no existen?
No sé para que volviste
Ya ves que es mejor no hablar

Qué pena me da
Saber que al final de este amor
Ya no queda nada
Sólo una pobre canción
Da vueltas por mi guitarra
Y hace rato que te extraña
Mi zamba para olvidar

Mi zamba vivió conmigo
Parte de mi soledad
No sé si ya lo sabrás
Mi vida se fue contigo
Contigo, mi amor, contigo
Qué mal me hace recordar
Mis manos ya son de barro
Tanto apretar al dolor

Y ahora que me falta el sol
No sé qué venís buscando
Llorando, mi amor, llorando
También olvídame vos

Qué pena me da
Saber que al final de este amor
Ya no queda nada
Sólo una pobre canción
Da vueltas por mi guitarra
Y hace rato que te extraña
Mi zamba para olvidar

La única tecnología verbal disponible... - Eric Havelock

Van Morrison and Bob Dylan (Athens, Greece, 1989)

"On a summer day in 1989, Van Morrison and Bob Dylan met up in Greece and brought their acoustic guitars to the place in Athens where the ancients believed the muses lived. Philopappos Hill, traditionally known as the Hill of the Muses, rises high above the Athens Basin and has a commanding view of the Acropolis. It was June 29. Dylan had just wrapped up a European tour the night before at Panathinaiko Stadium, and Morrison was traveling with a BBC crew for an Arena documentary that would be broadcast in 1991 as One Irish Rover: Van Morrison in Performances. The two legendary singer-songwriters played 4 of Morrison’s songs: “Foreign Window” and “One Irish Rover,” above, and “Crazy Love,” below. A fourth song, “And It Stoned Me,” was apparently cut from the film, but here it is, in all it`s glory even with a false start."

Nick Cave on Love / The Red Hand Files ISSUE #374 (AUGUST 2026)

How do I make my partner not the centre of my world? I love him so much now I depend on his presence because everything is just better by his side.
    AGUSTINA, BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA

    Dear Agustina,

I have chosen this question not because I have something particularly helpful to say, but because it marks a milestone - the 150,000th letter to The Red Hand Files, all of which, dear people, I have read. I take some pride in being able to say this, and I am grateful for your continued involvement. It is a strange, lovely thing we are doing together, wringing out our hearts.

I am not the one to advise on how to keep love at a sensible distance, Agustina. Against the advice of an army of therapists, analysts, 12-step sponsors, life-coaches, hypnotists and TED Talkers, my wife and I remain committed to full-on emotional enmeshment, a massive dose of co-dependency, some good old maladaptive caretaking, and a fair amount of enslavement. I am a happy planet helplessly orbiting my wife, the sun; I am her vassal, her monkey on a chain, in her thrall, drunk on her, lost to her. I suspect if you asked her, she’d say she’s the planet, and I’m the sun, but that would be her being modest. Whatever the case, we are better together and a mess apart, fully entangled, all in, happily doomed. By the way, there was an eclipse last night, marking, amongst other things, twenty-seven years of our marriage. How thoughtful of the cosmos to have remembered.

I loved your letter, Agustina, the 150,000th, and I think your partner is fortunate to have someone who seems willing to submit to love’s snares and entanglements. To me, the measure of a relationship is not in the distance maintained between the two of you, but whether you want the best for your partner, and your partner wants the best for you. If you have that and can maintain it, you are pretty much there and can let love have its way.

    Love, Nick

Andar con fé (a mi padre)

    Creo que los mejores poetas
(los que a mí más me gusta leer
    y escuchar al menos)
    son cristianos y lo dicen.

Que son canales de la palabra
    de Dios.

Creo en la Humanidad porque tengo
    fe en Dios, poder superior,
    justicia poética, amor.
    Agradecida!

Himno Nacional Argentino (Letra: Vicente López y Planes, Música: Blas Parera, 1812)

    ¡Oíd, mortales!, el grito sagrado:
    ¡libertad!, ¡libertad!, ¡libertad!

(bis)

    Estribillo (con coro)
    Sean eternos los laureles
    que supimos conseguir: (bis)
    coronados de gloria vivamos,
o juremos con gloria morir. (tris)

De los nuevos campeones los rostros
    Marte mismo parece animar. (bis)
La grandeza se anida en sus pechos
a su marcha todo hacen temblar.

Se conmueven del Inca las tumbas,
y en sus huesos revive el ardor,
Lo que ve renovando a sus hijos
de la Patria el antiguo esplendor. (bis)

    Estribillo (con coro)
Pero sierras y muros se sienten
    retumbar con horrible fragor. (bis)
Todo el país se conturba por gritos
de venganza, de guerra, y furor.

En los fieros tiranos la Envidia
    escupió su pestífera hiel. (bis)
    Su estandarte sangriento levantan
provocando a la lid más cruel. (bis)

    Estribillo (con coro)
¿No los veis sobre México y Quito
    arrojarse con saña tenaz? (bis)
¿Y cuál lloran, bañados en sangre
    Potosí, Cochabamba, y La Paz?

¿No los veis sobre el triste Caracas
luto, y llanto, y muerte esparcir?
¿No los veis devorando cual fieras
todo pueblo que logran rendir? (bis)

    Estribillo (con coro)
    A vosotros se atreve argentinos
    el orgullo del vil invasor.
    Vuestros campos ya pisa contando
    tantas glorias hollar vencedor. (bis)

Mas los bravos que unidos juraron
    su feliz libertad sostener
a estos tigres sedientos de sangre
    fuertes pechos sabrán oponer.
    Estribillo (con coro)

El valiente argentino a las armas
corre ardiendo con brío y valor:
El clarín de la guerra, cual trueno
en los campos del Sud resonó.

Buenos Aires se pone a la frente
de los pueblos de la ínclita unión.
    Y con brazos robustos desgarran
    al ibérico altivo león.

    Estribillo (con coro)
    San José, San Lorenzo, Suipacha,
    ambas Piedras, Salta, y Tucumán,
la colonia y las mismas murallas [11]
del tirano en la banda Oriental. (bis)

    Son letreros eternos que dicen:
    aquí el brazo argentino triunfó;
aquí el fiero opresor de la Patria
    su cerviz orgullosa dobló. (bis)

    Estribillo (con coro)
    La Victoria al guerrero argentino
    con sus alas brillantes cubrió.
Y azorado a su vista el tirano
con infamia a la fuga se dio. (bis)

y yo, francamente, chiquita, no sé...
¿Qué pena te embarga? ¿Por qué ya no ríes
con ese derroche de plata y cristal?
    Tu boquita, donde sangraron rubíes,
hoy muestra una mueca, trasuntando un mal...

    El piano está mudo.
    Tus ágiles manos
    no arrancan el tema
    del tango tristón...
    A veces te encuentro
    un poco amargada,
    llorando, encerrada,
    en la habitación.
    Y he visto, extrañando,

Happens to the Heart - Leonard Cohen (2019)

    I was always working steady
But I never called it art
    I got my shit together
    Meeting Christ and reading Marx
    It failed my little fire
But it’s bright the dying spark
    Go tell the young messiah
    What happens to the heart

There’s a mist of summer kisses
    Where I tried to double-park
    The rivalry was vicious
    The women were in charge
It was nothing, it was business
But it left an ugly mark
    I’ve come here to revisit
    What happens to the heart

    I was selling holy trinkets
I was dressing kind of sharp
Had a pussy in the kitchen
And a panther in the yard
In the prison of the gifted
I was friendly with the guards
So I never had to witness
    What happens to the heart

I should have seen it coming
After all I knew the chart
Just to look at her was trouble
It was trouble from the start
Sure we played a stunning couple
But I never liked the part
It ain't pretty, it ain't subtle
    What happens to the heart

Now the angel’s got a fiddle
    The devil’s got a harp
Every soul is like a minnow
Every mind is like a shark
    I’ve broken every window
But the house, the house is dark
    I care but very little
    What happens to the heart

Then I studied with this beggar
He was filthy, he was scarred
By the claws of many women
    He had failed to disregard
    No fable here no lesson
    No singing meadowlark
    Just a filthy beggar guessing
    What happens to the heart

    I was always working steady
But I never called it art
It was just some old convention
Like the horse before the cart
    I had no trouble betting
On the flood, against the ark
You see, I knew about the ending
    What happens to the heart

I was handy with a rifle
    My father’s .303
    I fought for something final
    Not the right to disagree

Entre a Mi Pago Sin Golpear - Los Manseros Santiagueños (1987)

Música: Carlos Carabajal / Letra: Pablo Raúl Trullenqu

    (Adentro)

Ragged Old Flag - Johnny Cash (1974)

I walked through a county courthouse square
On a park bench an old man was sitting there

I said "Your old courthouse is kinda run down"
He said "No, it'll do for our little town"
I said "Your old flagpole is kinda leaned a little bit
And that's a ragged old flag you got hanging on it"
He said "Have a seat" and I sat down
"Is this the first time you've come to our little town?"
I said "I think it is"
He said "I don't like to brag
But we're kinda proud of that ragged old flag"

You see we got a little hole in that flag there
When Washington took it across the Delaware
And it got powder burns the night Francis Scott Key
Sat up watching it writing'say can you see?'
And it got a little rip in New Orleans

With Packingham and Jackson tugging at its seams
And it almost fell at the Alamo
Beside the Texas flag but she waved on though

It got cut with a sword at Chancellorsville
Got cut again at Shiloh Hill
There was Robert E. Lee, Beauregard and Bragg
And the south wind blew hard on that ragged old flag

On Flanders Field in World War I
She got a bad hole from a Bertha gun
She turned blood red in World War II
She hung limp and low by the time that one was through
She was in Korea and Vietnam
She went where she was sent by her Uncle Sam
She waved from our ships upon the briny foam
And now we've about quit waving her back here at home

And in her own good land here she's been abused
She's been burned, dishonored, denied and refused
And now the very government for which she stands
    Is scandalized throughout the land
And she's getting threadbare and she's wearing kinda thin
But she's in good shape for the shape she's in

'Cause she's been through the fire before
And she can take a whole lot more
So we raise her up every morning
And we bring her down slowly every night
We don't let her touch the ground and we fold her up right

On second thought I do like to brag
'Cause I'm mighty proud of that ragged old flag

    Freedom Exists - Jim Morrison (8/12/1943 - 3/7/1971)

    Did you know freedom exists
    In a school book?
    Did you know madmen
    Are running our prison
Within a jail, within a gaol
    Within a white free protestant
    Maelstrom

    We're perched headlong
    On the edge of boredom
    We're reaching for death
On the end of a candle
    We're trying for something
    That's already found us

Bob Dylan - Only a Pawn in Their Game (Live At Newport Folk Festival - 1963)

A bullet from the back of a bush
    Took Medgar Evers' blood
A finger fired the trigger to his name
A handle hid out in the dark
    A hand set the spark
    Two eyes took the aim
    Behind a man's brain
    But he can't be blamed
He's only a pawn in their game

A South politician preaches to the poor white man
"You got more than the blacks, don't complain
You're better than them, you been born with white skin, " they explain
    And the Negro's name
    Is used, it is plain
    For the politician's gain
    As he rises to fame
    And the poor white remains
On the caboose of the train
But it ain't him to blame
He's only a pawn in their game

The deputy sheriffs, the soldiers, the governors get paid
And the marshals and cops get the same
But the poor white man's used in the hands of them all like a tool
    He's taught in his school
From the start by the rule
That the laws are with him
    To protect his white skin
    To keep up his hate
    So he never thinks straight
'Bout the shape that he's in
But it ain't him to blame
He's only a pawn in their game

From the poverty shacks, he looks from the cracks to the tracks
And the hoofbeats pound in his brain
And he's taught how to walk in a pack
    Shoot in the back
With his fist in a clinch
    To hang and to lynch
    To hide 'neath the hood
    To kill with no pain
Like a dog on a chain
    He ain't got no name
But it ain't him to blame
He's only a pawn in their game

Today, Medgar Evers was buried from the bullet he caught
They lowered him down as a king
But when the shadowy sun sets on the one
    That fired the gun
    He'll see by his grave
    On the stone that remains
    Carved next to his name
    His epitaph plain
Only a pawn in their game

Medgar Wiley Evers (/ˈmɛdɡər/; July 2, 1925 – June 12, 1963) was an American civil rights activist who was the NAACP's first field secretary in Mississippi. A United States Army veteran who served in World War II, he was engaged in efforts to overturn racial segregation at the University of Mississippi, end the segregation of public facilities, and expand opportunities for African Americans, including the enforcement of voting rights prior to his assassination.
