When the Pawn... - Fiona Apple (1999-2001)

When the pawn hits the conflicts he thinks like a King what he knows throws the blows when he goes to the fight and he'll win the whole thing fore he enters the ring there's no body to batter when your mind is your might so when you go solo, you hold your own hand and remember that depth is the greatest of heights and if you know where you stand, then you'll know where to land and if you fall it won't matter, cuz you'll know that you're right.

Eight Line Poem - David Bowie (Hunky Dory, 1971)

The tactful cactus by your window
Surveys the prairie of your room
The mobile spins to its collision
Clara puts her head between her paws
They've opened shops down West side
Will all the cacti find a home
But the key to the city
Is in the sun that pins
the branches to the sky

Power - Adrienne Rich (1977)

Living in the earth-depositis of our history

Today a backhoe divulged out of a crumbling flank of earth
one bottle amber perfect a hundred-year-old
cure for fever or melancholy a tonic
for living on this earth in the winters of this climate

Today I was reading about Marie Curie:
she must have known she suffered from radiation sickness
her body bombarded for years by the element
she had purified
It seems she denied to the end
the source of the cataracts on her eyes
the cracked and suppurating skin of her finger-ends
till she could no longer hold a test-tube or a pencil

She died a famous woman denying
her wounds
denying
her wounds came from the same source as her power

dijo Ursula Le Guin

"Imagination is not a means of making money. It has no place in the vocabulary of profit-making. It is not a weapon, though all weapons originate from it, and their use, or non-use, depends on it, as with all tools and their uses. The imagination is an essential tool of the mind, a fundamental way of thinking, an indispensable means of becoming and remaining human."

"La imaginación no es un medio para hacer dinero. No tiene lugar en el vocabulario de rentabilidad. No es un arma, a pesar de que todas las armas tienen origen en ella, y su uso, o falta de uso, depende de ella, como con todas las herramientas y sus usos. La imaginación es una herramienta esencial de la mente, una manera fundamental de pensar, un instrumento indispensable para volverse y mantenerse humano/a."
